Last week, the NRSC launched the first ad of the 2010 Senate cycle, slamming Majority Leader Harry Reid for backing the financial bailout last year and supporting President Obama's stimulus package that is currently working its way through Congress. Now the SEIU, one of the nation's largest unions, is coming to Reid's defense. The group released their own 30-second spot, "Hard Work," that praises Reid for working with President Obama to help turn the economy around.
"The economy is in trouble, but our senator, Harry Reid, been working with President Obama to put together an economic recovery package that will create jobs by investing in energy and transportation projects," the ad begins. It goes on to note that Reid is working to "cut taxes for struggling middle class families," urging viewers to call Reid to thank him for his hard work.
"The extreme right wing of the Republican leadership seem so stuck in the divisive politics of the past that they didn't get the memo of change American voters delivered in 2008," SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger said of the NRSC's attack.
I'm not sure of the extent of this buy, but I would assume that it will at least match the NRSC's ad, which was aimed at the media as much as it was at the voters in Nevada.

I wouldn't say that opposition to the massive spending bill the Democrats tried to sneak by the American people is coming from the Right wing of the Republican party. Last I heard the "Stimulus bill" approval rating has dropped to 45% of voters. Maybe that is because the bill was authored by the "extreme left". Reid is a bottom feeder.
From some alternative reality where up is down, black is white and day is night, someone named Jerry wrote to complain about Democrats trying to sneak a massive spending bill by the American people.
Jerry, trust me, FDR didn't try to sneak World War II past the American people and the 1969 moon walk wasn't secretly staged in a Hollywood studio. As President Obama pointed out with TV cameras running Thursday, it's a stimulus bill and spending, which stimulates the economy, is the point.
Opposition to the stimulus bill is coming from Republicans in Congress. Watch C-SPAN for verification, unless you think that has somehow been phonied up to mislead the public.
I'm sure the bill was authored by people extremely to the left of you, the center of the universe.
Compared to his Republican predecessor, the inept source of embarrassment known as Bill Frist, Reid is a model of inspired leadership.
Sure, makes perfect sense. The thing to do when in debt is to keep increasing the debt rather than making hard choices like...I dunno...stop expecting your children to pay your bills.
Ugh, Democratic LIES are ruining this country.
I must say that this is an impressive website. I love how your posts tie in with current politics so well. You seem to really love your site.
